Our mission is to enhance the personal, professional and academic lives of students, faculty and staff through structured and self-directed activities, educational programs and services, skill- and leadership-building activities, and campus-wide initiatives.

We strive to foster healthy lifestyle choices and wellness in the lives of those in our campus community through collaboration within University Health Services, within the Division of Student Affairs, and with many other campus partners.

In order to meet the highest standards as expressed in our Mission, we are proactive in obtaining formalized information through systematic assessment .  This information guides our decisions regarding programs and services. The WRS Annual Report provides a "snapshot" of campus participation in our programs throughout the year.

Blood Chemistry Profile (BCP) testing is offered each semester in the Wellness/Recreation Center by Allen Hospital.  Blood is drawn to test for twenty-three components including total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, cardiac and liver functions, blood sugars, iron, etc.

One free blood chemistry profile per academic year is available to UNI employees who qualify for insurance benefits.  Employees who wish to also have a prostate test (PSA) for $10 and/or a thyroid test (TSH) for $5 will incur that cost.  Pay by cash, check, UBill, or payroll decudction.

Students as well as retirees, spouses and partners may pay $20 for the BCP testing and the additional fees for the PSA and TSH testing listed above.

Results are mailed by Allen Hospital within one to two weeks of the draw.

Fasting is required for testing.  Upon calling to schedule, this information can be provided to you if you request it.  Reminder calls will be made the day prior containing fasting information as well.
