Under the direction of UNI School of Music professor and conductor S. Daniel Galyen, the Symphonic Band will offer a shared concert with the UNI Jazz Panthers, directed by Robert Washut. This event is free and open to the public.
Campus and community members are invited to the 6th annual Safe Date Tailgate for a free pre-Homecoming game barbeque lunch, exciting raffles and giveaways. The Safe Date Tailgate raises awareness about domestic violence by providing resources to students and the community about healthy relationships as part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. This event is sponsored by Women’s and Gender Studies, Violence Intervention Services, Feminist Action League, SAVE Forum Actors, UNI Athletics, Seeds of Hope, University Book and Supply and the Gilbertville Locker.
Dr. Brian Trewyn, from the department of chemistry at Iowa State University, will present Tackling the Environment, Energy, and Biomedical Challenges of Tomorrow with Mesoporous Nanoparticle Technology Today."
Mike Bobeldyk, associate director of Maucker Union, will lead an interactive workshop on the use of team-building exercises for organizations. Sponsored by the Leadership Studies Program. Free and open to the public.
Study Abroad will present information about summer study abroad programs.

Visiting artist Anthony Arnone will present a cello recital. Anthony Arnone enjoys a varied career as a soloist, chamber musician, conductor, recording artist, and teacher throughout the country and around the world. Arnone is associate professor of cello at The University of Iowa School of Music, and is also on the faculty of the Preucil School of Music in Iowa City, where he teaches and conducts. Arnone has collaborated with many of today’s great chamber ensembles and artists including members of the Pro Arte Quartet, Cypress Quartet, Fry Street Quartet, and Arianna Quartet. This is event is free and open to the public.
UNI jazz combos, coordinated by Chris Merz and graduate assistant directors, will offer a concert featuring jazz standards and new arrangements. This event is free and open to the public.

Jeremy VanWyk, Iowa National Guard Youth Coordinator, will present "Helping Military Youth Thrive in a Changing World." VanWyk will provide an overview of the issues impacting children with parents in the military and offer suggestions for supporting these children and their families.
