UNI Singers & Symphonic Band

Under the direction of UNI School of Music professor and conductor Amy Kotsonis, the UNI Singers will share a concert with the Symphonic Band, led by conductor Danny Galyen. Visiting artist Andrew Boysen Jr., conductor and composer, will appear with these ensembles as part of the 2015-16 School of Music guest artist series. This event is free and open to the public.

Guest Artist Recital: Matthew Bengtson, piano

Visiting artist Matthew Bengtson will present a piano recital. Critically acclaimed as a “musician’s pianist,” Matthew Bengtson has a unique combination of musical talents ranging from extraordinary pianist, to composer, analyst, and scholar of performance practice, and thus is in demand as both soloist and collaborator. As a La Gesse Fellow, he has been presented in concerts in France, Italy and Hungary, at Thomas Jefferson’s home Monticello, and in solo recitals at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall. This event is free and open to the public.

Guest Artist Master Class: Edmund Cord, trumpet

Visiting artist Edmund Cord will present a trumpet master class for UNI students. Cord has performed with Doc Severinsen, Ella Fitzgerald, Henry Mancini, Marvin Hamlisch, the Moody Blues, and others in jazz and commercial genres. Often requested for commercial recording dates, he performs frequently with the Indianapolis Symphony, the Carmel Brass, Broadway touring companies, big bands, and other ensembles. This event is free and open to the public.

Concert Chorale

Under the direction of UNI School of Music faculty artist and conductor John Len Wiles the UNI Concert Chorale will offer a fall choral music concert. This event is free and open to the public.
