Ambassador Stephen Rapp to Speak on Accountability for War Crimes

Monday, April 2, 2012 - 2:00 pm

As war, terrorism, human rights violations, genocide and other crimes against humanity continue to plague the world, the role of the United States in preventing and policing these global events is an important concern. Ambassador-at-Large Stephen Rapp will speak on “Promoting Accountability for War Crimes.” Ambassador Rapp heads the Office of Global Criminal Justice in the U.S. Department of State and is the U.S. focal point for formulating U.S. policy on prevention of and accountability for mass atrocities. Prior to his current position, Ambassador Rapp served as chief prosecutor for international tribunals for Sierra Leone and Rwanda.  He is a graduate of Cedar Falls High School and a former state legislator.  The event is free and open to the public.  International Programs is a co-sponsor of the event.  For additional information, contact JoAnna at 319-230-3918.
