FASHION & STEM: A PERFECT FIT
Logistics: $150 registration fee includes camp program supplies, including custom print fabric, and a snack daily. Campers should bring a sack lunch Monday-Thursday; Friday’s lunch will be provided.
On the first day of camp you will create your own fantasy apparel design and explore the process of bringing designs to life. In the computer aided design lab you will create your own unique repeating surface design and then print it out onto actual fabric using the campus fabric printer. After processing, you will get to cut and sew a skirt or shorts from your printed fabric in the production lab. In the materials science testing lab you will test fabric properties using lab equipment to answer the question of which fabric is the best fit for your design. Using a full-size dress form, you will build a wearable vintage remake design. The final day will include a runway show of all your designs and an open house for friends and family.
All paid registrations will receive a camp logistics email from the Camp Director by the Wednesday before camp begins. This email will include details about where to meet on Monday, how to dress, and other camp logistics.
For registration questions, please contact UNI STEM Secretary, Shelia Kelly at shelia.kelly@uni.edu or 319-273-7399.
For camp program and other questions, please contact, UNI STEM Coordinator, Marcy Seavey at seavey@uni.edu.
