October 15: Laramie Project Actor Talk Back

Location: CME (2nd floor of Maucker Union in the Center for Multicultural Education).
Date: Friday, October 15, 2010
Time: 3 to 4pm

The actors of the Laramie Project will be available in the CME if you'd like to ask them questions. Feel free to come and bring a friend! Learn about the actors, their show, and share any other questions you may have.

October 11 - 13: Homecoming Mural Painting

Location: Maucker Union, University Room
Date: October 11, 12, and 13, 2010
Time: all day (room closes at 10pm)

For those of you who wish to participate, please come on down and paint a mural! The theme is "Let the Good Times Roar." Feel free to interpret that in a positive manner in any way you'd like, and try to relate it to Proud as well! There is materials in the room to help you accomplish this task. Feel free to leave a comment here asking for more information if you have any questions.

National Coming Out Day: October 11

Location: UNI campus

October 10: Chalking Campus

Location: By Reflection Pool outside Maucker Union
Date: October 10, 2010
Time: 6pm

Meet at the Reflection Pool and be prepared to write all over campus! If you'd like, bring your own chalk, for we have a limited amount available. This is in honor of National Coming Out Day. Hope to see you there!

October 9: The Movie Out in the Silence

Location: Gallagher Bluedorn
Date: October 9, 2010
Time: 9pm

The movie Out in the Silence is showing at GBPAC. This documentary chronicles how a small town reacts to the same-sex wedding announcement in a local newspaper. This event is free, so come, enjoy, and learn more about LGBT issues.

October 9: The Movie Milk

Location: Gallagher Bluedorn
Date: October 9, 2010
Time: 2pm

The Movie Milk is the story of Harvey Milk, a gay activist, who fought for gay rights and became California's first openly gay elected official. It is showing at the GBPAC, and is 2 hours and seven minutes long. Come, enjoy, and learn a bit about LGBT history.

September 16: Judy Shephard Lecture

Location: GBPAC
Date: October 16, 2010
Time: 7:30pm

Judy Shephard, who lost her son to an anti-gay hate crime, is coming to UNI in order to discuss ways for individuals and communities to create a more accepting and safe place for LGBT people. She and her husband created the Matthew Shepard Foundation in order to carry on Matthew's Legacy, so that they can help prevent others from following their son's fate.

The Event is free for UNI students, so come and join us!

LGBTaco was a fantastic event! It was delicious, and we had such a great turnout. Thank you to all who brought the scrumptious food and came to the event! BBQueer, Tuesday April 27

For our last meeting this semester, we're going to host a BBQueer - a potluck BBQ at the Gay House. Everyone brings something! Sara will be passing around a sign up sheet of items that you should bring (there will be a list and you can sign up to bring a package of hot dogs, or a bag of chips, or whatever else).
