3rd Annual Workshop on Planning Outdoor Play and Learning Environments

The purpose of this event is to help child care providers plan outdoor play and learning environments. It will be held on Tuesday, November 17, 2009, at the Renaissance Washington, from 9:00am to 12 pm. It is sponsored by the National Program for Playground Safety (NPPS) and Grounds For Play. In addition to planning, participants will also receive the S.A.F.E. Play Areas Book.

Online Training Fall Course Schedule

Early Childhood Outdoor Play Inspectors Course

This interactive online course will give you knowledge and understanding to inspect the outdoor play area for safety. You will have four weeks to complete the course on your own time. The pictures, graphics, discussions, readings, and assignment will help create an experience level necessary to be considered an Early Childhood Outdoor Play Inspector.

Early Childhood Outdoor Play Inspectors should have an understanding of NAEYC, NHSPS, CPSC, and ASTM guidelines and standards necessary to inspect the childcare outdoor play area for safety. Click here to learn more.

School Outdoor Play Inspectors Course

As a certified School Outdoor Play Inspector (SOPI), you should be able to determine whether or not the school outdoor play spaces have been designed and maintained for the safety of children.  The criteria for which, are learned in an online course that sets forth information from the American with Disabilities Act (ADA), American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), National Association for Youth Sports (NAYS), National Clearinghouse for Educational Facilities (NCEF), and the National Program for Playground Safety (NPPS).
