Remote Access in a New Subnet
Wake On Lan
Wake on lan (WOL) technology allows an idle computer to consume less power.Wake on lan technology allows a sleeping computer to be powered on remotely. Typically this is done for remote access using remote desktop or other remote access software.
Soon there will be a new remote access wake on lan WOL application available in myuniverse. Your local IT support must configure your computer for WOL and program it’s address into this application before you can wake a computer remotely.
Remote Desktop
Once buildings are moved to new subnets the procedure for using tsgateway for remote desktop access to workstations will need to change. After the migration tsgateway will only be able to resolve names through dynamic dns. So workstations will need to be addressed by <hostname>.ad.uni.edu
