THE UNI Department of Art works actively with a campus-based component called Career Services. Available to students through that office are services related to professional career counseling and job search strategies.
In particular, that office helps to set up art- and design-related intern and/or cooperative education positions for our undergraduates. Some of these positions are paid, while others are not, but in each case the student receives academic course credits while working part-time (or full-time in the summer) for businesses or non-profit organizations.
In recent years, students have held internships at museums, art centers, public relations firms, advertising agencies, magazine offices, web design studios, printing firms, and so on. In the Department of Art, internships for credit do not usually take place until the student’s junior year. department of art
