Family Weekend

Family Weekend

Saturday, October 21, 2017 (All day)

Many activities are planned during Family Weekend. Welcome and check-in is from 8:30 to 10 a.m., in the lobby, GBPAC. Stop by to review the schedule of events, connect with friends from campus and the community, enjoy coffee and rolls, and snag a free UNI t-shirt (while supplies last). There will be a welcome program at 9 a.m. with remarks by Provost Jim Wohlpart and select coaches and players will be on hand to mingle with attendees and sign autographs.

Family members visiting campus Saturday and/or Sunday can park in any A, B, C or R campus parking lot. Those planning to stay overnight on Saturday night need to park in a C or R parking lot. For more information about parking, contact Parking Operations at 319-273-3179 or 3199-273-7093.

"Department of Art Faculty Exhibition"

Monday, October 9, 2017 - 6:00 pm to Friday, November 17, 2017 - 5:00 pm

The exhibition is a formal presentation of recent accomplishments by the faculty in the UNI Department of Art. It is an opportunity for students and the public at large to experience current themes in contemporary art and also to meet artists who not only teach but also maintain vibrant professional careers in studio art, graphic design, art history, and art education. The opening reception begins at 6 p.m., Mon., Oct. 9, in the KAB South lobby.

Join the Friends of the UNI Museum for the fourth speaker in the Rural Schoolhouse Speaker Series. Diane Kruse will speak on "A History of Lee County One-Room Schools: Then and Now." Be transported back to the era of the one-room schoolhouse in Iowa. Speakers will present the history of rural schools, the teaching and learning experience, and how the school building was once the heart and center of the community.

The lives of three young outsiders intersect in the grubby backyard of a Vermont coffeehouse. "The Aliens" is a delicate and subtly observed drama chronicling the characters' struggles to survive, connect and find meaning in their lives. Written by Annie Baker, whose other works include "The Flick," "John" and "Circle Mirror Transformation." Mature Content (14+). This production will contain smoking of non-tobacco products.
