Inaugural Graduate College VIsit Day

The Graduate College invites admitted graduate student to attend the inaugural Graduate College Visit Day. The program will include a graduate student panel, campus tour, lunch with graduate students and Graduate College staff, and a meeting with graduate faculty for departmental tours and information gathering by the students.

Faculty Recital: Cayla Bellamy, bassoon

Friday, March 31, 2017 - 6:00 pm

Faculty artist Cayla Bellamy will present a bassoon recital titled “All in the Family” with collaborative pianist Robin Guy. The program will consist of an all-UNI program to include works and world premieres for the bassoon in solo, accompanied, and chamber settings by composers from the UNI School of Music, College of Arts and Sciences, and Office of the Provost. Composers featured include Drs. Nancy Hill Cobb, Jeffrey Funderburk, Alan Schmitz, Jonathan Schwabe and Rebecca Burkhardt. This event is free and open to the public.

As part of the August Wilson Festival, a community group of collaborators from UNI, Cedar Falls and Waterloo are staging a reading of The Piano Lesson, by playwright August Wilson, author of Fences. A discussion of race and community follows, featuring Lou Bellamy, artistic director of the Penumbra Theatre in St. Paul, the largest African-American theatre company in the U.S.

Guest Recital: Anna Hersey, soprano, and Alan Johnson, piano

Friday, March 31, 2017 - 8:00 pm

Visiting artists Anna Hersey and Alan Johnson will collaborate to present a recital. Hailed by critics as a “force of nature,” soprano Anna Hersey enjoys performing a wide range of vocal repertoire.  A native of Minnesota, Dr. Hersey has performed throughout the United States and Europe, appearing with Palm Beach Opera, Florida Chamber Orchestra, Hispanic-American Lyric Theater, Skylark Opera, The Minnesota Opera, and Theatre de la Jeune Lune (at Berkeley Repertory Theater), among others. Hersey will collaborate with pianist Alan Johnson. This event is free and open to the public.
