We are Africa: African Night

African Night is an annual cultural showcase organized by the African Union organization. Performers from across the continent celebrate their culture through dance, drumming, spoken word, music, fashion, and a variety of other arts. This year’s theme is “We are Africa" to pay homage to our roots as descendants of numerous vast and diverse civilizations.

Darwin Week 2017

Darwin Week is an annual lecture series hosted by the UNI Freethinkers and Inquirers that promotes skepticism and reasoning in a variety of areas. Faculty lectures begin at 12:30 p.m. with a special guest keynote speaker at 7 p.m.                                           

Pride Week Drag Ball

The Pride Weeks Drag Ball will feature drag performers raising money for the Cedar AIDS Support System (CASS) to help those living with HIV/AIDS and their loved ones. Admission is free; tipping and donations are encouraged. Everyone is welcome.

Kosama Fitness Event

Want to get that jump start on your fitness goal for the new year or continue your workout plan with a fun twist? You can attend a Kosama session at 8 or 9 a.m. and all proceeds will go to UNI Dance Marathon. The cost is $5.

Art From the Heart

This is the annual fundraiser for Art for El Salvador. There will be an art sale and silent auction; proceeds will be used to promote education in impoverished communities in El Salvador.  Entertainment will be provided by Tropicante, The Brazilian 2wins and Magic by Eric. Refreshments will be served.

Relay For Life of UNI

The Relay For Life of UNI is a 10-hour event that brings the college campus and the Cedar Falls community together to remember loved ones lost, honor survivors of all cancers and raise money to help the American Cancer Society make a global impact on cancer. 

Out of the Darkness Campus Walk

The goal of the Out of the Darkness Campus Walk is to raise suicide awareness and prevention as well as collect funds for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). The funds raised help create educational programs, develop research, advocate for public policy and provide support for individuals affected by suicide. Registration and check-in will begin at 1 p.m. David Romano from Active Minds will speak at 2p.m. and the walk begins at 3 p.m.
