CME First Friday: Asian and Pacific Islander Month

April is Asian and Pacific Islander Month and The CME will host a First Friday event in celebration. Chinese artist, Xiaoting Wang, will perform multiple demonstrations and workshops on the art of Chinese calligraphy. The Middle East Dance Club will perform at 6 p.m. Attendees can try authentic cuisine, learn about different cultures through presented information, enjoy music provided by KULT, stike a pose in our photo booth and more. Admission is free and everyone is welcome.

First Friday

Activities such as frosting cookies, painting a pot and visiting with friends will be offered as part of First Friday. Bring a donation, decorate a stocking and fill it to be sent to one of the many military members around the world. Learn about holidays and religions around the world. Relax, take a break from studying and celebrate the coming winter break

First Friday

Socialize with friends and new acquaintances to celebrate Native American Heritage Month. The Dakota Access Pipeline will be highlighted with a discussion about actions for students to get involved. Food, activities and educational information will be provided.

Truman State Social Justice Leadership Summit

The Center for Multicultural Education is sponsoring a trip to the Social Justice Leadership Summit at Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri. The CME will pay for travel and lodging accommodations. The purpose of the Social Justice Leadership Summit is to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to encourage and lead social change

CME First Friday: Asian Pacific American Heritage month

The Center for Multicultural Education will celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage month. 

First Fridays brings together the UNI community to celebrate art, food and culture in an inclusive environment. Local diversity is celebrated at First Fridays and promotes the culture, talent and work of our community. Attendees are welcome to come and go as they please to engage in this unique cultural experience, meet other community members, and support local artists and organizations.

Noche De Gala

The Hispanic Latino Student Union will host their annual ball, Noche de Gala. There will be a photobooth, a dj, dinner, entertainment and a guest speaker. Everyone is welcome.

Finals Week De-Stress Days

Enjoy three days of stress relievers in two locations:

Center for Multicultural Education: oxygen therapy bar, coloring, five minute massages (provided by Erin Norin of Barefoot Remedies, Wednesday only) and light refreshments.

Old Central Ballroom lobby, Maucker Union: dog therapy (Tuesday and Wednesday only between Veridian and Chats), walk the labyrinth, five minute hand and back massages, arts and crafts and more.
