Final Thursday Reading Series featuring Dave Hoing & Roger Hileman

Dave Hoing and Roger Hileman are the co-authors of the new historical novel "A Killing Snow," as well as other works. Open mic sign up begins at 7 p.m.; open mic begins at 7:15 p.m. Creative writers are invited to bring five minutes of original poetry, fiction or creative non-fiction to share. Singer-songwriters are also welcome to utilize the Hearst Center’s grand piano. Hoing and Hileman will take the stage at 8 p.m. There will be a short question and answer period as time allows. Copies of A Killling Snow will be available for purchase.

"Teaser Trailer" Readings: The American Fiction Collection

No time for pleasure-reading? Sample a new favorite book before you commit to the whole thing! Join Rod Library every other Tuesday over a lunch break to hear librarians, professors, fellow students and occasional authors read from a different book each session. Discover short stories, poems and novels, both famous and little-known, from UNI’s post-1960s American fiction collection. You will also have the opportunity to examine each book following the reading. Doors will remain open for guests to come and go.

"Antarctica: Beyond Ice"

An exhibition of drawings by Allyson Comstock. This presentation also features the exhibition "Responding to Antarctica," which includes work by students from the UNI Department of Art. Sponsored in part by the National Science Foundation Antarctic Artist and Writers Program. On Wed., Jan. 18 at 6 p.m., Comstock will present a lecture about her work in KAB 111.
