UNI Ed Summit: Inclusive Praxis for 21st Century Education: Advocacy, Challenges, and the Public Good

Designed for teachers, university faculty, policymakers and other education stakeholders, UNI’s 2017 Education Summit will explore the opportunities and challenges of 21st century education. The Summit will feature presentations, panels and dialogue sessions led by state, regional and national experts, including scholars and practitioners. Keynote speakers for the 2017 Ed Summit include LeDerick Horne and Lisa Delpit. Breakout session presenters will represent institutions of higher education in Iowa and nationwide, Iowa school districts and AEAs and education policy organizations.

Teaching Research Ethics - Faculty RCR Workshop

Helen Harton will share tips and best practices for teaching the responsible conduct of research (RCR) to graduate and undergraduate students. This workshop will present the latest research findings on effective strategies for engaging students in active learning about ethical issues, and share resources, links to case studies and other information that will assist instructors in addressing research integrity in their courses and/or offering their own research integrity trainings and workshops. This session targets faculty members, but anyone interested in RCR education is welcome. Registration is required. (https://ethics.uni.edu/ethics-workshop-registration)

Ethics in Qualitative Research

Susan Etscheidt will lead this research faculty panel discussion. The workshop will help participants become acquainted with key ethical issues regarding integrity in authorship, data management and collaboration in scholarship as they pertain to qualitative inquiries.
