Brave Student Voices: Then and Now

This special event recognizes a history of activism and student leadership at UNI regarding social justice and calls for the entire campus community to make a stronger, more substantive commitment to creating an inclusive educational climate. Members of the 1970 "UNI 7" who helped found the CME and nine current students of color and allies will be recognized. Everyone is welcome.


Gary Dop Poetry Reading

Gary Dop will read from his collection of poems "Father, Child, Water." Dop was awarded the Great Plains Emerging Writer Prize by the 37th Annual Great Plains Writers Conference. His poems have appeared in dozens of national and international journals. He is an English professor at Randolph College. 

TPC Restoration & Management Lecture: Making Ecological Restoration More Effective: Ideas From the Midwest and Around the World

"Making Ecological Restoration More Effective: Ideas From the Midwest and Around the World" will be presented by Susan Galatowitsch, Department of Fisheries, Wildlife and Conservation Biology at the University of Minnesota. This event is hosted by the Tallgrass Prairie Center. Open to the public.

Final Thursday Reading Series featuring Tim Bascom

Tim Bascom’s books include the novel Squatter’s Rites and the essay collection The Comfort Trap, in addition to his new memoir Running to the Fire.  He is currently the director of creative writing at Waldorf College.

Open mic signup begins at 7 p.m.; open mic starts at 7:15 p.m. Participants can share five minutes of poetry, fiction or creative nonfiction. The featured reader takes the stage at 8 p.m. Coffee will be served.
