Bill Sherman, Humanities Iowa Speaker Iowa's Country Schools: Landmarks of Learning

Join the Friends of the UNI Museum for Bill Sherman, Humanities Iowa Speaker Iowa's Country Schools: Landmarks of Learning. This is the first in the Rural Schoolhouse Speaker Series.Be transported back to the era of the one-room schoolhouse in Iowa. Speakers will present the history of rural schools, the teaching and learning experience and how the school builidng was once the heart and center of the community.  

Trevor Dawes presentation

Trevor Dawes will present "Library Diversity and Inclusion Initiatives" focusing on his work as co-chair of the American Library Association’s Task Force for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, and how libraries have been successfully advancing diversity and inclusion initiatives on their campuses. Dawes is the May Morris Librarian and vice provost for libraries and museums at the University of Delaware.

Chicago Memories

Local artist Chaveevah Banks Ferguson will lead a discussion of her work and life. Her paintings are on display in the library until Sunday, March 5. An artistic door prize will be awarded to one contestant. For more information, contact Julie Ann Beddow at 273-6256.

Whether you’re looking for a job or internship, or participating in social networking opportunities like LinkedIn, a polished look can set you apart from the competition. Professional attire is recommended, no appointment needed.  Students, staff and faculty are welcome.

"Teaser Trailer" Readings: The American Fiction Collection

No time for pleasure-reading? Sample a new favorite book before you commit to the whole thing! Join Rod Library every other Tuesday over a lunch break to hear librarians, professors, fellow students and occasional authors read from a different book each session. Discover short stories, poems and novels, both famous and little-known, from UNI’s post-1960s American fiction collection. You will also have the opportunity to examine each book following the reading. Doors will remain open for guests to come and go.
