Guest Recital: Adam Larson Quartet

Visiting ensemble the Adam Larson Quartet will present a recital. The quartet features Adam Larson, saxophone, Can Olgun, piano, Matt Penman, bass, and Johnathan Blake, drums. With three records under his belt, Adam Larson’s latest, entitled “Selective Amnesia”, was released on the Inner Circle Music Label and was featured in the New York Times, Downbeat, Saxophone Journal and several other publications in print and online. This event is free and open to the public. 

Percussion Studio Concert

Under the direction of UNI percussion faculty Ryan Frost and Matthew Andreini, the UNI Percussion and West African Drum Ensembles will offer the first of their spring concerts along with UNI’s Taiko drum ensemble Kaji-Daiko and the UNI Marimba Ensemble. This event is free and open to the public.

UNI Opera Showcase

UNI Opera will present a spring showcase featuring scenes from a variety of operas presented in a minimalist style. Our cast of undergraduate and graduate performers take on the challenges of music from both obscure works and operatic standards. A special feature will be "Die Kleine Harlequinade," a short opera by Antonio Salieri, directed by UNI senior music students Alexandra Saulsbury. This event is free and open to the public. 

Performances at 7:30 p.m. both nights. 

Guest Recital: Annette Richards, organ

Visiting artist Annette Richards will present an organ recital. Richards specializes in music of the Italian and North German Baroque, and has played concerts on numerous historic and modern instruments in Europe and the United States. She also regularly performs music from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, and has won prizes in international competitions including the 1992 Dublin International Organ Competition and first prize for organ duo with David Yearsley at the Bruges Early Music Festival in 1994. She is currently on the faculty at Cornell University. This event is free and open to the public.
