TheatreUNI: The Aliens

The lives of three young outsiders intersect in the grubby backyard of a Vermont coffeehouse. "The Aliens" is a delicate and subtly observed drama chronicling the characters' struggles to survive, connect and find meaning in their lives. Written by Annie Baker, whose other works include "The Flick," "John" and "Circle Mirror Transformation." Mature Content (14+). This production will contain smoking of non-tobacco products.

Philosophy and Religion Hearst Lecture: Expelling Injustice from Iowa Schools

Derrick Darby, professor of philosophy at the University of Michigan, will give a public lecture as part of the Philosophy and Religion Hearst Speaker Series. The tile of his talk is "Expelling Injustice from Iowa Schools." Darby is the co-author of the forthcoming  book, "The Color of Mind: Why the Origins of Achievement Gap Matters for Justice."

Earth and Environmental Sciences Seminar: "Northern Rocky Mountains Course Experience"

UNI Earth and Environmental science students will share their adventures from their August trip to the northern Rocky Mountains. Learn about the impacts of climate change upon alpine glaciers, forest fires and human-landscape interactions. We will also discuss the relative roles of wilderness, sustainability and industrial tourism within our national parks system.

Halloween House

The UNI Student Chapter of the American Chemical Society (ACS), in collaboration with students from biology, physics and earth science, will host a “Halloween House.” This event is free and open to the public. Costumes are welcome. The activities are intended for elementary age children, but can be enjoyed by children of all ages.
