Visiting artist Toby Furr will present a euphonium recital with UNI faculty artist Polina Khatsko, piano. SSG Toby Furr, a native of Dallas, Texas, joined the U.S. Army Ceremonial Band in 2013. SSG Furr is a graduate of the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. At UNT, he studied with Dr. Brian Bowman and performed with the UNT Wind Symphony as well as several chamber ensembles. SSG Furr was the winner of the Leonard Falcone International Euphonium Competition in the student division in 2010 and in the artist division in 2011. This event is free and open to the public.

Faculty artist Randall Harlow, organ, will present a collaborative recital with guest artist and UNI staff member Celeste Bembry, soprano. This event is free and open to the public.

Friday, April 7, 2017 - 7:30 pm

An exciting and unique concert event! UNI’s premiere jazz ensemble, Jazz Band One, under the direction of Chris Merz, will share a concert with the premiere chorale ensemble, Concert Chorale, under the direction of John Len Wiles. School of Music faculty artists Amanda McCandless, Ann Bradfield, Heather Peyton and Cayla Bellamy will coordinate and appear as clinicians at this event, which will also feature guest artists Anna Mattix, Debra Richtmeyer, Steve Vacchi, and Stephanie Zelnick, with collaborative faculty pianist Robin Guy. School of Music professor Cayla Bellamy will coordinate a student recital from the bassoon studio at UNI. This event is free and open to the public. 

Tuesday, April 11, 2017 - 6:00 pm

Visiting artist Tom Curry will present a tuba recital with faculty artist Polina Khatsko, piano. Tom Curry is the Adjunct Professor of Tuba and Euphonium at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Music. He is currently the tubist in the Wisconsin Brass Quintet, a faculty ensemble-in-residence at the School of Music, and has performed with the Joffrey Ballet, the Chicago Philharmonic, the Madison Symphony Orchestra, the Green Bay Symphony Orchestra, the Ars Viva Symphony, and many other orchestras. He has also appeared with numerous rock and popular acts, including Foster the People and Chicago-based punk marching band Mucca Pazza. This event is free and open to the public. 

Tuesday, April 11, 2017 - 8:00 pm

UNI School of Music faculty artist Dmitri Vorobiev will present a piano recital. This will be Vorobiev’s tenth recital in a series of performances at UNI capturing all of Beethoven’s piano works. This event is free and open to the public. 

Wednesday, April 12, 2017 - 6:00 pm

Students from the UNI trombone studio will present a recital under the direction of professor Anthony Williams. This event is free and open to the public.

Wednesday, April 12, 2017 - 6:00 pm

Coordinated by UNI School of Music faculty artists, student musicians will offer a chamber music concert. This event is free and open to the public.

The UNITUBA Ensembles, from the tuba/euphonium studio at UNI, will offer a spring recital under the direction of faculty artist Jesse Orth. This event is free and open to the public.

Members of the UNI Cantorei, Wind Symphony and Northern Iowa Symphony Orchestra will collaborate under the direction of conductor John Len Wiles to present this performance as part of the Northern Iowa Bach Cantata Series. This event is free and open to the public.

Friday, April 14, 2017 - 6:00 pm

Faculty artist Heather Peyton will coordinate the spring UNI Oboe Studio recital. Faculty artist Robin Guy, piano, will collaborate. This event is free and open the public. 

Friday, April 14, 2017 - 8:00 pm

Visiting artist Edisher Savitski will present a piano recital. Savitski has been appearing as a soloist with: Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra, Utah Symphony, Pacific Symphony among many others, and has been performing at prestigious venues worldwide. He currently serves on the faculty at the University of Alabama. This event is free and open to the public.
