Join the Friends of the UNI Museum for the fifth speaker on "Christmas Traditions in the One-Room School Family Fund Day activities such as: carol singing, cookie decorating, making ornaments, and more" in the Rural Schoolhouse Speaker Series. Be transported back to the era of the one-room schoolhouse in Iowa. Speakers will present the history of rural schools, the teaching and learning experience and how the school building was once the heart and center of the community.

Opening Reception: Dec. 7 at 7 p.m. The following students are pursuing Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in their respective emphasis areas and are exhibiting new artwork to fulfill graduation requirements: sculptor Christina Carver, painter Caylin Jayde, printmaker Nick Lyle Hall, and painter James Lange. All events are free and open to the public. Gallery hours are from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Thursday; noon to 5 p.m., Friday and Saturday; and by appointment. The gallery is located at the corner of Hudson Road and West 27th Street, on the main floor of Kamerick Art Building South.

In fall 2017, for the President's Diversity Common Read, more than 200 UNI faculty, staff and students read White Rage: The Unspoken Truth of Our Racial Divide. The book's author, Carol Anderson, Charles Howard Candler Professor and Chair of African American Studies at Emory University, will join us to speak on her book. This event is free and open to the public.
