8th Annual Holocaust Remembrance Ceremony in the Cedar Valley

Tuesday, April 29, 2014 - 6:30 pm

The 8th Annual Holocaust Remembrance Ceremony will include a poster display, lighting of memorial candles, a musical performance and a screening of the highly acclaimed film "Nicky's Family" (appropriate for sixth graders and older). The film is about the rescue by Nicholas Winton, a young British stockbroker, of 669 children from Czechoslovakia during the months preceding the beginning of the war, and the living legacy of the "power of good" that Winton and his associates made possible.

“Nicky’s Family” is also being shown at no charge to school groups at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 28, in the Great Hall of the Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center. Seats are still available; schools that want to send a group of students to this event should contact Stephen Gaies, 319-273-3870 or gaies@uni.edu.

This event is free and open to the public. Sponsors are the Center of Holocaust and Genocide Education and Sons of Jacob Synagogue of Waterloo.
