Motorcycle parking available in the MMTC

Motorcycle parking has been added to the Multimodal Transportation Center. The designated area is located on the upper level in stalls 112-115. An MC permit is required to park in the spaces. Visitors can purchase time at the pay station.

Fourth of July hosting opportunity

The Culture and Intensive English Program (CIEP) is coordinating a host day event for CIEP students who want to learn about American culture on the Fourth of July. Volunteers and families will pick students up from campus around noon and bring them along for their family or holiday festivities, returning the students to campus after day activities or evening fireworks. Volunteer families may host one to four students, depending on each volunteer's capacity and preferences. To sign up, contact Sally Roos.

Chronic disease management program at UNI

Better Choices, Better Health®, Stanford University's chronic disease management program, is being offered to UNI employees through the Northeast Iowa Area Agency on Aging from 4:30 to 7 p.m., on Mondays, in 007 GIL, beginning July 7. Lobbying activity from April 1 to June 30, 2014 must be reported online by Monday, June 30. UNI files quarterly reports on specific lobbying issues and the expenses incurred. The university's policy on Federal and State Lobbying and Political Activity can be found in the Policies and Procedures Manual at 10.09. Efficiency and Transformation Study open forum

Wireless network access for UNI guests and visitors

UNI is offering complimentary wifi access to visitors and guests via the 'attwifi' network, which will replace 'UNI-Guest' in most campus locations. Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to continue using the secure 'WiFi-UNI' network. More information is posted on the ITS website.

Kid Zumba

Zumba for kids ages 7 through 11 features age-appropriate music to encourage kids to have fun moving to the beat. The class is offered at 9 a.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, in 176 WRC. Campanile repair work to start

Weather permitting, work on the exterior of the Campanile will start Monday, June 9. Work will include roof revisions on the bell deck and cleaning the brick and limestone. The area will be closed off the last week of June in order to replace the wire mesh guards in the arch openings. If you have any problems or a tentative event scheduled for this area, contact either Joe Boutott or Tony Hanson in the Physical Plant at 273-4400.

Primary election voting at Gilchrist Hall

Gilchrist Hall has been designated as a polling location for the June 3 primary election. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Certain parking meters on the west side of Gilchrist Hall will be designated for voters only. Questions may be directed to Milissa Wright, UNI Police, at 273-2712.

Reaching for Higher Ground (RHG) mini-grants up to $1,000 are available to support academic year activities and programming planned around the 2014-15 theme Media & Social Media: A Networked Society. UNI Multimodal Transportation Center closing for service

The UNI Multimodal Transportation Center (MMTC) upper deck will be closed for service starting Wednesday, May 14. The lower deck will be available for parking. On Thursday, May 15, all levels of the MMTC will be closed and will reopen on Monday, May 19. The hard surface lot to the north of the parking deck will remain open at all times.
