Driver’s license validation required

Faculty and staff who drive on university business must have their driver’s license validated each semester. If your license has not been validated since Jan. 1, call Motor Pool at 273-2610 before driving.

Spring Leadership Series: Give, Serve, Lead

The spring sessions of Give, Serve, Lead: Mission Possible will be at 7 p.m., Tuesdays, Feb. 2, 9 and 16, in Old Central Ballroom, MAU. Each session will be a different interactive activity that will help build crucial skills to use in student organizations and future careers. Faculty, staff, students and the community are welcome. Refreshments will be provided. Registration is required.

Pizza Ranch fundraiser

Northern Iowa Wishmakers will have a fundraising event from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 3, at Pizza Ranch. A percentage of the sales will go toward granting the wish of a child with a life-threatening illness.

Nominations for MWONE academic advising award

The MWONE award is given to one tenured, tenure-track or non-tenured faculty member employed at UNI for at least three years. Nominations can be made by faculty, staff and students. The deadline for nominations is Friday, Feb. 19.

Back to Africa, a performance by Teju the Storyteller, will be at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 3, in the Center for Multicultural Education. Teju's stories are drawn from African traditions as well as African-American history and folklore. His performances are high-energy, fast paced and witty with a hint at wry humor.

Spring Safe Zone Ally training

Safe Zone Ally training will be from 2 to 4 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 1; 10 a.m. to noon, Tuesday, March 8; and 1 to 3 p.m., Friday, April 8. There is limited space for each date. Civility in today's workplace

Civility in the Workplace will be from noon to 1:30 p.m., Monday, Feb. 1, in the Oak Room, MAU. In today's workplace, one can observe a continuum of behaviors and actions that include rude and discourteous behavior and electronic incivility. Information will be presented on how to encourage participants to model respectful behavior in their organization. Registration is required.

Vox Peregrini: Transforming the Musical Ensemble Through Pilgrimage

Experience Vox Peregrini through music, pictures and words, exploring the multifaceted connections between music and pilgrimage at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 28, in 116 RSL. All of the major world religions value the pilgrimage or spiritual journey for its transformative effects on individuals and cultures. In June 2015, John Wiles led a group of musicians on a pilgrimage following the Wicklow Way in Ireland. Susan Hill will collaborate on this reflective presentation.

Dance Marathon is having a give back night on Friday, Jan. 29, at the Waterloo Blackhawks hockey game at Young Arena in Waterloo. A portion of every $10 ticket purchased will be donated to Dance Marathon.

UNI voicemail planned maintenance

ITS will fix several issues with the UNI voicemail system on Friday, Jan. 22. These fixes are in response to several key issues that campus has been experiencing with UNI voicemail since it's implementation last summer. The maintenance will happen during the day and will not be noticeable to end users. For more information, visit the ITS website.

DOR to host 26th Annual RA Conference

The Department of Residence will host the 26th Annual UNI Resident Assistant Conference Friday, Jan. 29, through Sunday, Jan. 31. There are 50 institutions with more than 550 advisors and delegates attending. Delegates will be housed in residence hall lounges and eat meals in the Piazza Dining Center. Recreation Services fitness class pass

Fitness classes begin Tuesday, Jan. 19. Registration is required. Pay one fee and attend any class, excluding TRX and Fit Club. Each room has a limit of 20-25 participants. Pay by U-Bill, payroll deduct, credit card or cash. Classes with low attendance after Feb. 15 might be cancelled. No refunds. There are 40 different sections; check out one class for free. Prices: students, $50; employees, $60; alumni/affiliate, $70.

McElroy Fellowships

McElroy Fellowship candidates must intend to pursue a Ph.D. and be a December 2015 or May 2016 graduate with a liberal arts degree. Awardees will receive $10,000 per year for three years to help defray education costs. In addition to an above-average academic record, students will be evaluated on their character, leadership and general interests. Potential applicants should contact Bryce Kanago to express interest and discuss eligibility. The on-campus application deadline is Friday, Jan. 29.

Paper W-2s for all other employees are anticipated to be mailed on Wednesday, Jan. 20.
