CDW-G catalog available through iProcurement

The CDW-G catalog is now available through Oracle iProcurement. The catalog provides IT Peripheral products available for purchase. Faculty and staff with lobbying contacts

Lobbying activity from April 1 to June 30, 2016, must be reported. In compliance with the Lobbying Disclosure Act of 1995 and the Honest and Open Government Act of 2007, UNI files quarterly reports on specific lobbying issues and the expenses incurred in lobbying. The university's policy on Federal and State Lobbying and Political Activity is posted online. Reports must be filed each quarter. If there is nothing to report for a particular quarter, note that in the "comments" section. For more information, contact Randy Pilkington at 273-6945. The completion deadline is Wednesday, July 13.

Outdoor Warning System testing

On Saturday, July 9, between the hours of 8 and 10 a.m., the UNI Police will be testing the campus warning systems. Part of the test will include the outdoor warning sirens and the indoor emergency voice message system.

Lifelong University classes needed for fall

Lifelong University is seeking instructors to teach a course this fall. Courses are usually taught once a week for four consecutive weeks and are two hours for lifelong learners. Instructors will be paid $50 an hour and are able to create their own schedule. Courses will begin in September. Deadline for submission for class proposals will be Monday, Aug. 1. Cedar Valley Pedal Fest

The UNI Healthy Campus Coalition encourages employees and students to participate in the Cedar Valley Pedal Fest Saturday and Sunday, July 2 and 3. UNI Panther Nights at Waterloo and Cedar Rapids baseball games

UNI will host Panther Pride Nights at the Waterloo Bucks and Cedar Rapids Kernels baseball games in July. The Bucks game will be at 7:05 p.m., Saturday, July 16,
 at Riverfront Stadium. Gates will open at 6 p.m. Athletic Director David Harris will throw the first pitch. The Kernels game will be at 6:35 p.m., Friday, July 22, at Veterans Memorial Stadium. Gates will open at 5:30 p.m. Interim President Jim Wohlpart will throw the first pitch. UNI promotional items will be given to the first 500 people at each game. UNI employees and their family or guests can receive discounted gate admission. The deadline for tickets is July 9. Student Employment best practices training

The Office of Career Services will provide training for anyone working with student employees from 9 to 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 15, in the Rod Library. Topics include university policy reminders, clarification on the new hiring paperwork process and information on student health insurance and whether or not your students qualify. Jennings Drive closure at bridge

Jennings Drive will be closed between the Business and Community Services building parking lot entrance and E Street beginning Tuesday, July 5, for pavement repairs at the Dry Run Creek bridge. New UNI director of admissions

After conducting a national search, Kara Hadley-Shakya has been hired as UNI's new director of admissions. Kara comes to UNI from Eastern Illinois University where she is serving as associate director of admissions for recruitment, campus visits and special events since March 2014 and interim director of admissions for the past six months. She will begin at UNI on Thursday, June 30.

Additive Manufacturing and Design Center open house

The Additive Manufacturing and Design Center will host an open house from noon to 4 p.m., Thursday, June 30, at the Techworks Campus in Waterloo. Grill out at Maucker Union

Join us each Friday in June from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a cookout! Dining Services will move operations from inside the food court to outside Maucker Union. They will serve a rotating menu of grilled favorites such as hamburgers, hot dogs and grilled chicken sandwiches, sides and beverages. In case of inclement weather, grilling will take place inside the food court.

West 31st Street construction closure

Effective Monday, June 6, West 31st Street at the intersection with Hudson Road, is closed due to construction activities related to the Southwest Campus Storm Water Management project. This construction closure will remain in place until Monday, Aug. 1. Through traffic on West 31st Street between Ohio Street and Hudson Road will not be available during the construction closure.

Janet Paul named director of dining services

Janet Paul has been named director of dining services. She will oversee residential dining, retail operations and catering services. She has more than 20 years of experience in university food service management as well as involvement in the National Association of College and University Food Service, including having served as both regional and national president of NACUFS. Paul will join UNI effective July 1.

Patrons can check out materials and enter the building until 10 minutes to closing time, at which time service desks close and the doors are locked. The Dell catalog is now available through Oracle iProcurement for all Dell purchases. The catalog lists standard configurations approved by Information Technology Services in coordination with the Regent institutions. If you need help accessing the Dell catalog through iProcurement, contact Molly Ungs or call 273-6448. If you have laptop, desktop or monitor needs above and beyond these standard configurations, contact the Information Technology Services Computer Consulting Center at 273-5555 or via email at its-consult@uni.edu to start the request process. As of May 12, 2016, the stand-alone Dell premier website is no longer available for orders.

Burst Your Thirst challenge

Employee Well-being invites employees to participate in the Burst Your Thirst Challenge (BYT), from Monday, June 13, to Friday, July 22. The challenge focuses on teams of two to 10 individuals engaging in competition to track water consumption and minutes of physical activity to move up the leaderboard. UNI Employee Well-being will support the effort by providing weekly emails and opportunities for participants to winincentive prizes. Cedar Valley’s Bike to Work Week is May 16 to 20. In the spirit of this week, UNI Employee Well-being encourages employees to show us being active. Individuals that post a picture of themselves biking to work this week will be entered in a drawing for an incentive prize.
