Diversity mini grants available

Diversity grants are awarded by the Diversity Council to UNI projects and events that enhance awareness of and education about issues of diversity at UNI. Anyone enrolled at UNI or working at the institution may apply for up to $1,500 to support diversity-related projects and initiatives. More information and the application are posted online.

Adobe home-use program - students, faculty and staff

Faculty and staff may purchase the entire Adobe Cloud or just Acrobat Pro separately. ITS recommends purchasing the entire Adobe Cloud as Acrobat Pro is included in the Cloud. Students only have the option to "subscribe" to the Adobe Cloud software for a recurring monthly charge. University Book & Supply is an authorized reseller for Adobe software for personal use. A valid UNI ID card is required for purchase.

In celebration of the Elinor A. Crawford and William R. Thrall Hall of Excellence's 10th's anniversary, the School of Health, Physical Education and Leisure Services and the College of Education will welcome Anita DeFrantz. Authorization for payroll deduction of ID card purchases

Electronic authorization for payroll deduction of purchases at campus restaurants and convenience stores charged to your ID card will soon be required. Currently, employees can swipe their ID card to have these charges deducted from their paycheck. Effective Oct. 15, this service will only be available to employees who have made the one-time election to electronically authorize payroll deduction for these purchases. Global Connections Scholar award

The Culture & Intensive English Program (CIEP) has a scholarship opportunity to individuals who are recommended by current UNI full-time employees. This scholarship will provide up to 100 percent CIEP tuition for the spring 2014 eight-week session. Recipients will be responsible for all other fees. Common read nominations sought for 2014-15

The UNI community is beginning the selection process for the common read for the 2014-15 academic year. The book must relate to the theme "Media & Social Media" and will be used in the curriculum for the First-Year Cornerstone class, provide inspiration for a Strayer-Wood Theatre production and bring together the campus and community in discussion around critical issues. RAINN Day (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) is an annual campaign to raise awareness and educate students about sexual violence on college campuses. In compliance with the Lobbying Disclosure Act of 1995 and the Honest and Open Government Act of 2007, UNI files quarterly reports on specific lobbying issues and the expenses incurred in lobbying. Required credit card compliance training

Everyone who accepts, processes or handles credit card information as a form of payment on behalf of the university must attend UNI Credit Card Compliance training annually. Small Group Instructional Diagnosis (SGID) is a simple method of mid-semester classroom evaluation that uses a trained facilitator to conduct a structured discussion with students. Supreme Court panel discussion

UNI will host the annual Military and Veterans State Conference Monday, Sept. 23. The keynote presentation will be given by Meredith Kleykamp, University of Maryland professor of sociology. MAP-Works is an early intervention system for UNI first-year students, which supports student success and retention. Free biometric health screening

UNI Employee Wellness will offer a free Biometric Health Screening to all employees from 7 to 8:45 a.m., Friday, Sept. 27, in 007 GIL.
