Spring break the Pi Sigma Epsilon way
Spring break-goers will be traveling to destinations such as Las Vegas and Daytona Beach over the next couple weeks, but how about spending your spring break in the great Midwest…specifically Indianapolis, Indiana! That's exactly where the University of Northern Iowa's Pi Sigma Epsilon: Epsilon Theta Chapter will be, and they're very excited about it.
UNI PSE is a sales and marketing student organization. It provides students with the real world business experience that potential employers and recruiters are interested in.

during last year's PSE National Convention.
"PSE has given me valuable skills in speaking with professionals, personal selling, time management and planning for events," said Rayanna Bockenstedt, a UNI junior majoring in management and the PSE vice president of public relations. "In addition, I have had numerous networking and leadership opportunities."
During spring break, the UNI PSE chapter will be in Indiana for the Pi Sigma Epsilon National Convention. The National Convention is an event that happens every spring and offers sales competitions, workshops and training sessions, roundtable discussions and competitions for multiple awards to PSE chapters from universities all over the nation.
"This will be my third convention and I usually pass up other spring break trips because I not only work hard and gain some great experience, but also because it's a blast!" said Ethan Thompson, a UNI junior majoring in marketing: management and the PSE executive vice president. "It gives our members an even better opportunity to bond, and in turn, we become more cohesive."
This year, 15 UNI PSE members will attend the convention. They are finalists in five categories, including Top Gold Chapter, a top honor they won last year and hope to bring back to UNI this year.
"It has been amazing to see the progress that has been made as the Epsilon Theta chapter at UNI came out of nowhere to put themselves on the map in 2009, and have taken the top award two out of the past three years," said Thompson. "We're looking to continue that trend as we approach the convention this year."
But, UNI PSE does a lot more than just prepare for the National Convention. Throughout the year, PSE plans events and completes projects that give back to the Cedar Valley community. In the fall they do a Knockout Hunger Drive, a door-to-door food drive for the Northeast Iowa Food Bank, and when the holidays roll around, the chapter hosts The Bids 4 Kids Holiday Auction. And, they are in the process of planning the 11th Annual Sprint into Spring 5K Walk/Run, which raises money for Magical Mix Kids.
"One of my favorite aspects of PSE is the people I have met through the organization," said Bockenstedt. "PSE is a great group of dedicated, hardworking, and fun individuals who all strive to better themselves while also helping each other professionally and personally."
