Begin the school year with Welcome Week!
UNI is hosting events to get students excited about the upcoming school year. All students are invited to participate in UNI's free Welcome Week activities.

The week will kick off at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 21, with the Welcome Week Picnic at College and 23rd streets (between the Alumni and President's House). Food and entrainment will be available to all students. New students are encouraged to attend.
At 7 and 9 p.m., on Friday, Aug. 22, mentalist and illusionist Wayne Hoffman will perform at the Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center.
A variety of events will be held on Saturday, Aug. 23. The Wellness Recreation Center (WRC) will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. for new and returning students with their student ID. A sand volleyball tournament will be held at the court west of the WRC at 3 p.m., and there will be bike tune-ups from 6 to 8 p.m. outside the West entrance. Fraternity and Sorority Life and the Residence Hall Association will host a Welcome Week pool party from 6 to 9 p.m. at the WRC pool.
From 1 to 5 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 24, UNI Outdoor Recreation invites students to Paddling on the Pond. Canoes, kayaks and paddleboards will be available for use on the retention pond north of the WRC. Stop on by and enjoy, or learn how to use, the equipment.
The Cedar Falls community and businesses on Main Street invite students to Panthers on Main from 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 23. Enjoy entertainment and shopping on the award-winning Community Main Street.
Other activities on campus include a welcome ball from 7 to 11 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 23, hosted by the UNI Ballroom/Swing Club. Games Under the Lights will take place at 8:30 p.m. at the new WRC recreational fields, and an outdoor movie will be shown at 9 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 23. .
Welcome Week concludes with the Panther Kick-Off at 4:30 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 24. This new tradition will include appearances by President Bill Ruud, coaches Ben Jacobsen and Tanya Warren, UNI traditions, a class photo and more.
Campus direction booths will be available from 7:30 to 9 p.m., Monday, Aug. 25, through Wednesday, Aug. 27.
