Skill Development

As a complement to their rigorous academic preparation, business majors at UNIBusiness develop contemporary professional skills across four crucial areas. Today’s global business environment demands a professional attitude, polished communication and presentations skills, excellent writing and reasoning skills, and organizational awareness. Graduates cannot expect career success simply by earning academic credits; they must be prepared to apply their essential business knowledge in a professional setting.

Students are introduced to key professional expectations during required workshops in Business 1000 and 2000. Website resources provide a comprehensive review of professionalism basics in all four areas. (Hover over each category on the right to see the full list of topics.) Two additional levels of workshops, Business 3000 and 4000, provide hands-on training in more advanced skills.

Additional individualized skill development is available through the PRP Mentoring Program, for students preparing for a Professional Skill Endorsement, and for students enrolled in an Internship or Co-op Experience who wish to create a professional portfolio item to meet the paper requirement. Contact the PRP office for guidance on developing any professional skill!
