CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- Two UNI faculty members will be among the more than 100 people who will become American citizens at the University of Northern Iowa's citizenship oath ceremony at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 17, in the Maucker Union Old Central Ballroom. This is the most who have ever participated in the event's three-year history.
"It's somewhat unusual for universities to have the opportunity to host a Naturalization Ceremony. We are honored that UNI will be the host institution for this moving event," said Mark Grey, director of the Iowa Center for Immigrant Leadership and Integration. "Anyone who has attended one of these ceremonies will tell you they are special, rather moving events."
The event is free and open to the public and is sponsored by the UNI New Iowans Center and the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost.
