CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- The University of Northern Iowa is changing things up this year at the Iowa State Fair with a completely redesigned exhibit. The exhibit will be open to fairgoers from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 8, through Sunday, Aug. 18, in the Varied Industries Building.
The exhibit will offer a new interactive multimedia station, complete with two 55-inch touch screen monitors. The monitors will allow visitors and prospective students to explore the many different majors and opportunities UNI offers. Alumni will also be able to use this station to connect with UNI alumni services.
iPads will be available for fairgoers to take pictures with a life-size cutout of UNI's mascot, TC. The pictures will then be emailed to the fairgoer.
UNI President Bill Ruud will visit with guests, alumni and prospective students and their families from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10.
In addition to the new attractions, many old Panther favorites will be available at the exhibit. Visitors are invited to grab a Panther football poster, a Panther paper fan, a photo frame magnet and a temporary Panther tattoo.
The exhibit will provide prospective students and families the opportunity to visit with alumni, faculty, staff and students to learn more about UNI and campus life. University Book & Supply will sell UNI clothing, Panther gear and memorabilia in conjunction with the exhibit.
