CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- The University of Northern Iowa chapter of the national student volunteer organization, Students Today Leaders Forever (STLF), will embark on its first Pay It Forward Tour during spring break, beginning Friday, March 15. The nine-day tour will take students to six different cities and give them the opportunity to participate in a number of volunteer projects.
"Many students spend their spring break either doing the stereotypical thing, going to Panama City Beach or Cancun, while others go home and work," said Melissa Herak, co-chair of the UNI chapter of STLF. "This opportunity is needed for those students who are looking to do something more and affect people along the way by giving back."
The tour will take students to Kansas City, Mo.; Eureka Springs, Ark.; Little Rock, Ark.; Shreveport, La.; Houston, Texas; and Dallas, Texas.
STLF was founded in 2003 and is focused on volunteer leadership. The group has 35 chapters at universities throughout the nation. The UNI chapter of STLF was established in the fall of 2012.
