CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- The University of Northern Iowa's Interpreters Theatre will present "Triskaidekaphobia: 13 Consumer Tragedies," at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 24, in the Interpreters Theatre in Lang Hall, Room 040. The production is a solo performance created and performed by Amy K. Kilgard, and directed by Alexis Litzky.
In "Triskaidekaphobia," 13 characters face the perils of consumerism. A cashier becomes consumed by her big-box store and a compulsive collector reconciles his obsessions. From Kilgard's own retail experiences to others' (sometime) bizarre customer service interactions, "Triskaidekaphobia" explores commercial rhetoric, as well as everyday and aesthetic performances of consumerism.
Kilgard, an associate professor at San Francisco State University, will be a visiting artist Monday, April 22 through Wednesday, April 24. She will visit with students and offer workshops in several classes.
The performance is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Megan Wharff, graduate assistant in communication studies, at 319-273-2024 or email@example.com.
