CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- Students, faculty and staff at the University of Northern Iowa will join thousands of Iowans in a commitment to make Iowa the healthiest state in the nation by participating in Healthiest State walks on Wednesday, Oct. 9. The walks will take place at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. at Maucker Union, noon at the McLeod Center and 3 p.m. at the Wellness and Recreation Center.

In 2011, Gov. Terry Branstad announced the plan to make Iowa the healthiest state in the nation within five years. In coordination with the Blue Zones Project, UNI will help Iowa work toward that goal. UNI President Bill Ruud and Mrs. Ruud and Cedar Falls Mayor Jon Crews will participate in the 11:30 a.m. walk.
