CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The University of Northern Iowa will host UNI Day at the Statehouse from 1 to 3 p.m., Monday, Feb. 24, at the Iowa Capitol in Des Moines. The event will highlight UNI programs and inform legislators about the impact UNI has on the state.
"Last year's inaugural event was such a great success," said Jeneane Beck, UNI state relations officer. "I was impressed by the faculty, student and alumni turnout. It really drove home to legislators how important UNI is to the families, schools and businesses of Iowa. I expect this year to be even better because more alumni have expressed an interest in attending and advocating on our behalf."
UNI students, faculty and staff will showcase interactive displays highlighting various UNI programs, departments and organizations. This year's event will feature remarks from President Bill Ruud, a jazz trio performance from the School of Music, and TC, UNI's mascot, will be there to take photos with.
Alumni are encouraged to attend to reconnect with their university and speak with elected officials about the value of UNI.
