For over 120 years, the University of Northern Iowa has fostered a premier teaching and learning environment. Recognition of the need to provide a broad curriculum of advanced programs leading to graduate degrees has been an integral part of its history. The university initiated graduate degree programs in 1951 when the Board of Regents authorized the offering of a program of graduate study leading to the Master of Arts in Education.
We encourage students to learn more about the opportunities that UNI's Graduate College offers. Students should also access the Graduate College's webpage for information about application procedures, general requirements for degree completion, announcements of events of interest to graduate students, opportunities for campus-wide assistantships, and requirements for completion of the M.A. thesis.
