Early Morning Intimacy

Bill Lyons

He touches her,
holds her close,
more than when
he was a macho man.

Now when they
awaken during the night
they touch hands,
squeeze, stroke, caress.

This morning when the
clock radio played,
she smiled, came around
the bed, lifted the
covers a little, rubbed
still-swollen feet.
