UNI faculty using the Blackboard/WebCT learning management system in conjunction with spring semester courses should submit a request using the form at http://elearning.uni.edu/forms/course_request.html.
Courses will be populated with students the week of Jan. 3, and enrollment changes are processed on a daily basis throughout the semester.
ITS-Educational Technology invites faculty to register for workshops being offered the week before classes resume for the Spring semester. Workshops address eLearning, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, HTML, Preparing Course Materials for the Web, Lecture Capture using Panopto, and Video Conferencing using Adobe Connect. Seating is limited and reservations are required. Visit http://www.uni.edu/its/training/winter-intersession for a schedule and to access online registration.
ITS - Educational Technology and University Relations are now offering Drupal "office hours" twice monthly. Any faculty, staff, or student can attend and get help with any UNI Drupal website. Drupal experts will be on hand to help field theming, site building, and content editing questions. Fall 2010 office hours are scheduled for December 7 and 21 from 3:00 - 4:00 PM in the Production House, ITTC 108.

Faculty members are invited to participate in technology related workshops focused on blended course development (any combination of face-to-face and online elements) and other supportive tools the week before the Spring 2011 Semester begins. Two tracks are being offered to meet faculty needs depending on your level of experience and availability. Questions or comments?

The Way Up conference will take place Thursday and Friday, Nov. 4 and 5, in Cedar Rapids. Plan now to attend this conference designed for women leaders and administrators in higher education in Iowa. Several of the conference concurrent sessions will be presented by UNI faculty and/or staff.
October is Cyber Security Awareness Month. The ITS security team has assembled many resources on various security-related issues. This week the focus is on information for bosses. Resources for parents, children and schools have already been covered. More resources will be added throughout the month.
Shashi Kaparthi, director of the UNI Office of Institutional Research, and a faculty member in the College of Business Administration, has been named UNI's inaugural Chief Information Officer (CIO).
Lora McKee Anderson from Iowa Wesleyan College, is a Turning Technologies Distinguished Educator who will discuss the pedagogical reasons for using student response systems. Lora will share the ways she develops different types of questions and how they are formatted. This is your chance to increase product knowledge, network with peers and to see how others are using response technology.
A UNI digital signage website has been launched by University Relations and Information Technology Services. The website includes a submission form for publicizing content across campus, digital signage best practices, and an overview of the centralized digital signage system.

The first few phases of the new Student Information System (SIS) have rolled out. Additional SIS overview sessions have been scheduled for those who were unable to attend the August sessions. Sessions will take place from 2 to 3 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 15 and 11 a.m. to noon, Thursday, Sept. 16, in GIL 009. If you are unable to attend a session, a recorded presentation is available online. Due to limited space, register at the Student Information System website.
Welcome to the new look for the Information Technology Services web site. For the past several months ITS Educational Technology staff have worked on a redesign of the ITS web site following new UNI standards, using our new content management system (Drupal) with a focus on providing a better user experience. The new site has been designed based on accessing services and content from a user perspective.
