Student Health Clinic

SUMMER BREAK CLOSING: The Student Health Clinic will close for the summer break beginning Monday, August 1st until Thursday, August 18th. Medical and Pharmacy services will not be available during the break. The Student Health Clinic will re-open for Medical and Pharmacy services at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, August 19, 2016.

If you have an urgent medical problem at any time during our closure, you may be seen at one of the local urgent care centers. Please visit the Student Health Clinic hour’s webpage at http://www.uni.edu/health/about/hours for information and locations.

If you have immunization records to submit they can be faxed to: 319-273-7030 or emailed to healthcenter@uni.edu If you have questions regarding your Student Health Insurance Plan premium, please email connie.potter@uni.edu or call 319-273-7736.

If you require assistance prior to Friday, August 19, 2016, please call 319-273-2009 and choose option #1 to reach a receptionist Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Resource Nurse

The resource nurse helps patients to determine the appropriate care of health problems through phone, (319) 273-5161, or in-person visits. Nurse appointments are available for a variety of health-related issues including urinary tract infections, pregnancy testing, travel consultations & vaccinations, allergy shots and updating immunizations.

Referral to a medical specialist

If your condition requires referral to a specialist, the Student Health Clinic health care providers will assist you with making those arrangements.  Referral services are provided, if indicated, to most area hospitals and medical specialists.  Students are responsible for:

  • Contacting their insurance to see if the medical specialist or health facility is participating with their health insurance company.
  • Bringing copies of their health insurance cards to their appointment as well as personal identification (such as, UNI ID or driver’s license).

Fees charged by a specialist are independent of the Student Health Clinic.  If you have specific questions related to the cost of the visit, you should check with your health insurance company.
