MUMPS Information

The University of Northern Iowa Student Health Clinic has confirmed cases of the mumps and several cases are being investigated in the community. The Student Health Clinic has been working with the Black Hawk County Health Department and the Iowa Department of Public Health on these cases. Students who have been tested or have been diagnosed with the mumps have been instructed to remain in isolation for five days or longer if their symptoms persist. The UNI Student Health Clinic has also been in contact with the University of Iowa Student Health Clinic due to of the multiple cases (100 plus) that they have had on their campus and the measures they are taking to control their outbreak.

Welcome to the Student Health Clinic at the University of Northern Iowa. We specialize in college health. We offer high quality primary care services provided by Board Certified Family Practice Physicians, Board Certified Physician Assistants, and a Board Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. Additional staff includes a pharmacist, nurses, and a lab technologist. We understand today’s college students and we are committed to assisting you with your healthcare needs.

Flu Information

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,the single best way to prevent the flu is to get a flu vaccine each season. Who should get a flu shot? Everyone 6 months of age and older should get a flu vaccine this season.

Students we will file a claim with your health insurance company or the cost is $30 for those without health insurance coverage. UNI employees, the cost is covered by the University of Northern Iowa Human Resources department.

To be prepared for your visit to the Student Health Clinic you should:

  • Bring your health and pharmacy insurance cards.
  • Know all medications & doses you are currently taking.
  • Know your medication allergies and sensitivities.
