Tripp-Rieks named Director of Facilities for the Department of Residence

Joe Tripp-Rieks has been named to Director of Facilities for the Department of Residence at University of Northern Iowa. The Department of Residence manages residence communities and dining for more than 4200 students who are living in eight residence halls and three apartment communities.

Tripp-Rieks was hired at UNI in June 2011 as the Department of Residence Construction Project Manager. Additionally, he has served as Interim Director of Residence Facilities since January 2012. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Construction Engineering at Iowa State University. Previous to his UNI experience he was a project engineer in Denver, Colorado, and a project manager for Ryan Companies US, Inc., of Cedar Rapids.

His current scope of responsibilities includes managing custodial and maintenance operations for residence and dining facilities (1,500,000 square feet) and managing the $8M budget for Department of Residence facilities. He manages the construction of Panther Village and the Redeker Center expansion project. Tripp-Rieks’ leads a team of more than 60 staff members who deliver exceptional service to students and to the UNI community.
