Dr. Leslie Williams is the Dean of Students. She assists students and families in times of crisis or concern, provides assistance to faculty in managing issues, administers the Student Conduct Code and oversees New Student Programs, Student Disability Services, LGBT Center, Student Assistance & Outreach, and Military & Veteran Services.
Meet the Staff
Kristin coordinates retention and student success initiatives, including peer mentoring, the MAP-Works early intervention program, and success coaching for first-year students. She collaborates with faculty members on the implementation of First-Year Only (FYO) course communities, provides individual assistance to at-risk students, and co-chairs the university's Transfer Council. Kristin also works with campus partners to facilitate the Jump Start extended orientation program, Transfer Welcome events, and Family Weekend.
Allyson Rafanello is the Student Assistance and Outreach Coordinator responsible for coordinating principle support and intervention for students of concern; administering the student conduct system; and supporting strategic initiatives including LGBT* outreach and assistance.
Margaret serves as secretary for the Vice President of Student Affairs, Dean of Students, Assistant Dean of Students/New Student Programs, Orientation Coordinator, Coordinator for Student Assistance and Outreach, and Administrative Assistant.
Ashley Brickley is the Student Disability Services coordinator. In her role, Ashley serves as the point of contact for students, parents, faculty, and staff regarding student accessibility and accommodations on campus, collaborates with students and faculty regarding the implementation of academic accommodations, and oversees management and operation of the Student Disability Services office.
As the Disability Specialist for Student Disability Services, Brittany assists students by determining eligibility for accommodations, providing challenge and support through the office's Weekly Mentoring program, overseeing the conversion of course material into accessible format, and offering assistive technology resources and outreach events
As the Department Secretary for Student Disability Services, Karen is responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the office including; ordering supplies, managing the office flow of students, faculty, staff and community, processing Reader and Scribe requests for exams and reconciling the SDS budget.
Julia supports military members, veterans, and their families at UNI as they transition between military duty, college, and new careers. She is committed to faculty and staff education, on and off campus, resource networking, advocacy, and listening to each student to ensure that each military affiliated students' voice is heard and they are empowered to achieve success in class and beyond.
Heather serves as a resource to LGBT students on campus. She manages and maintains the Safe Zone Ally online education program, helps with coordinating the department's involvement in the Rainbow Reception and Manages and continues to develop the LGBT resource page on the Dean of Students Website
