UNI to offer Principalship MAE/ASC at a distance

The University of Northern Iowa is accepting applications for its Master of Arts in Education (MAE) or Advanced Studies Certificate (ASC) in Principalship beginning Fall 2013. This two-year program is designed for individuals seeking endorsement in the state of Iowa as a PK-12 Principal/PK-12 Supervisor of Special Education.

"We're proud of the way our program connects theory to the real-world of school leadership through award-winning faculty and 21st Century technology. Our graduates from across Iowa are in demand as school leaders with vision, passion and bright futures," remarks associate professor Nick Pace.

New to the program this year will be an entirely online delivery method via Adobe Connect, a desktop video conferencing system that allows for real-time interaction between instructors and students. Participants connect via the web one night per week from a location that is most convenient, without the costs of commuting. Additional coursework is completed using eLearning, a Blackboard learning management system requiring Internet access and a web browser. The first summer session includes a short on-campus experience.

Courses begin this fall using a cohort model in which a group of students moves together through the course sequence, with the degree to be awarded in Summer 2015.
