GEOG 4133/5133 WKSP: Best Practices for Teaching Geography in the Secondary Social Studies and Science Curriculum -- 1 unit(s)

This course highlights exemplary techniques for enhancing the teaching of geography, social science, and science. Connecting with standards-based content, namely the Iowa Core, this workshop introduces "Teaching With The Stars", a series of high-quality on-line modules that focus on the topics of watersheds, agriculture, and globalization. Participants will have access to a full range of on-line materials such as in-class video demonstrations, content enhancements and background material, pedagogy enhancements, and lesson plans. A veteran Iowa social studies/geography teacher will facilitate this workshop (on-line) and enrich the content with their own on-the-ground experience and real-world context.
