COE faculty and staff speak at national conferences, publish in academic and professional journals, engage (often with students) in community projects. In addition to teaching, they advance knowledge and create dialogue on topics as varied as social justice in the classroom to how leisure activity benefits mental health and well-being.

Staff Award of Excellence
Selected to receive the inaugural Staff Award of Excellence was Yin Yee, Iowa Regents' Center for Early Developmental Education. Beth VanMeeteren, director of RCEDE, presented the award at the fall All Staff Retreat.

Excellence in Teaching
Receiving the 2023 COE Faculty Senate Award for Teaching was Morgan Anderson, Educational Psychology, Foundations and Leadership Studies. Her nominator, Elana Joram, EPFLS, presented the award.
Excellence in Service
Kim Hurley, Kinesiology, was announced as the 2023 COE Faculty Senate Award of Excellence recipient. She received her award from her nominator, Tam Burt, Kinesiology.
Excellence in Scholarship
Matt Townsley, Educational Psychology, Foundations and Leadership Studies (EPFLS), received the 2023 Award of Excellence for Scholarship from the COE Faculty Senate. Colleague Nicole Skaar, EPFLS, nominated Townsley and presented the award.
