Policies for Submissions
Editorial Policy
Disputatio is an annual journal of the late middle ages which publishes articles only on the subject of the announced theme for each volume.
Preferred length for scholarly articles is 4,000-12,000 words and for research notes is under 2,500 words.
Review essays will be assigned by the editors; please contact us if you might wish to be assigned a topic. We are also very committed to publishing bibliographies; please contact us if you are interested in compiling one. For review essays, inquiries from younger scholars or those working on dissertations in the field are particularly welcome.
Although the preferred language of Disputatio is English, we will consider articles in all major European languages and Latin. All articles not in English must be accompanied by a substantial abstract in English.
Manuscripts must conform to MLA style. Although contributors are re-quested to use hard copy for initial submission of manuscripts, final copies of accepted manuscripts must be submitted on disk (Windows only -- we cannot use Macintosh disks). Authors should send three copies of the manuscript and a stamped self-addressed envelope when submitting work. All articles will receive blind review by specialists in the field; final decisions concerning publication, however, rest exclusively with the editors.
