Muchas Manos Light Work

Meeting started at 2:10.
 
Meeting held with four members- Omar Medina, Gloria Adams, Yin-Ya Huang, Holly Gleich- and advisor Chris Schrage present. 
 
Members reviewed and edited a letter that Chelse Monnier wrote. The letter will be mailed to local businesses or organizations for the purpose of raising money and informing the public of our organization. After the editions are made, Chris Schrage will post the letter on our webpage-www.uni.edu/~schragec/muchas_manos.htm. Everyone should then print out copies of the letter and mail it to organizations. 
 
Omar Medina also was given materials for which he is to translate. 
 
Holly Gleich was assigned the responsibility of contacting Hy-Vee about the money raised from the pie-making fundraiser. Gloria Adams and Omar Medina will come to the next orientation for this summer’s capstone course. They will be speaking on behalf of MMLW and will try to recruit new members. The meeting will be held on April 18th at 3-5 in CBB 221 if anyone would like to join them. 
 
We discussed future fundraising ideas:
 - Wal-Mart fundraiser- May 2nd and 4th. Members should sign-up for which shift they would like to work. Friday- 4 to 8 and Sunday 11 to 5.
 - Omar will be visiting churches in Southeast Iowa and speaking on behalf of MMLW. 
 - Chris needs help picking up sticks on her property that had fallen during the winter. She is graciously going to pay MMLW $10.00 per person per hour. The date for this activity is April 19th from 10AM to 2 PM. Everyone should attend because this will be a great fundraising opportunity and it is also the date of our next meeting! Lunch will be provided. Feel free to bring others to help in the effort. At the next meeting, we will pick the scholarship recipient.
