Meeting started at: 1:10

Meeting held with four members- Dawn Sperfslage, Gloria Adams, Chelse Monnier, Holly Gleich- and advisor Chris Schrage present.

Dawn Collected Dues ($10 for students/ $30 for alumni)

Those who have not paid should give their money to Dawn before the end of the month. Her cell phone number is: 319-961-9287. Email is: dawns@uni.edu

Treasury’s report was given.  ($452.01 prior to 1/26/08)

We discussed future fundraising ideas:

-Deal or No Deal- we will make the video after we make pies on February, 10th.

-Cover letter with brochure to send to churches in larger cities with a large Latino population. (Marshalltown?)

And also consider local churches. Chelse will write a cover letter draft for the next meeting with a focus on raising money for the scholarships. She will also look at changing the brochure to a mail-able design so we don’t have to spend money on an envelope.

-Pledging mileage for Dawn’s Ragbrai in the end of July. Brochures could be mailed out to people and the payments could be made to the site. (Someone to pedal alongside her?)

- Cedar Fall’s Wal-Mart Matching funds. Thrivent Foundation through the Lutheran Church may match the funds raised at Wal-Mart.

Get a date set. (April 4, 5, and/or 6? We should take shifts. For the next meeting, members should check their schedules to see when they are free.)

Make labels for the jars and brochures (appx. 100) to handout (Chris Schrage) Make poster boards to stand by the garbage cans (Joel)

Dawn S. will contact Wal-Mart to set the date

-Cedar Falls’ Hy-Vee pies donations on February 10th at 1:00 PM (There should at least be five of us.) We will meet at the University Hy-Vee to help make pies. For every pie that is made and sold, we will collect $1 in profit.

- Dawn checked on the Veridian fundraising opportunity and the Hy-Vee coupon books. They will both not work.

- Target fundraising opportunity?

-Hansen Foundation out of Winnebago. – Gloria will check out this organization. Hopefully, they will donate money for the library.

Scholarships:

- 6 applications were filled out and brought back to MMLW

- The applicants are: Lenin Hernandez, Jaqueline Hernandez, Nelson Arauz, Joseling Kuan, Sorayda Potoy, Lesther Hernandez, and Henry Diaz.

- Chelse left the applications in Siares with Ivania and Wilfredo. We may be receiving some more.

Chelse Monnier shared pictures from her trip to Nicaragua.

We will all think of ideas for slogans or taglines for our group to go on the posters.

The next meeting will be February 10 at 1:00 at the University Ave. Hy-Vee. We will be making pies and taping the Deal or No Deal video. Everyone should try their best to be there so that we can get things accomplished effectively!
