Explanation
of the Psycho-Social Group
What do the
young people do?
Beginning
in the year 2004, within the DIF (Integral Family Development) program, by
means of Cepad, we organized ourselves to help
children and young people and mothers of families needing psychosocial
attention, at the time to develop abilities in the youth that belong to the
group. The important thing is motivation, because within the financial
situations that we face, and the strong desire to be organized and see how our
youth and children are involved in a circle of physical and psychological
abuse, from here came the idea to begin a project and change that situation for
future children; through our work, we take care of 28 children, while not
overlooking our Christian principles and planting in the children prayer and
adoration for God.
Some
youth study, others work, and many have had to leave our studies due to lack of
employment and financial resources, but always with the hope to fight and meet
our goals to obtain a degree and help those who need us.
When
we don’t have meetings with the children, we work in the labors of the
countryside, with some youth caring for their homes.
Who do we help?
We
help boys, girls, and youth from the community of Guadalupe, Matagalpa, at the
same time with chats with parents about interfamily violence, sexual abuse,
communication between parents and children, etc. It is also good to mention
that our facilitator, Ivania López
trained us in these topics, and others have helped us in our personal lives and
to give this attention.
What are they
doing to go to the University?
Sadly
those of us that were in a university have had to abandon it because of a lack
of economic resources. An example: there is a young person named Lenin, his
parents couldn’t continue helping him, he had to look for a job, just like his
sister Jaqueling, he studied Physics and Math his
first year. Samuel Martínez studied English his first
year, and others would like to enter but for us it is impossible, we have to
look for work to survive.
Why do you want
to go?
Our goal is to go
to the university and obtain a degree, and develop ourselves best as young
people. We are youth of communities that want us to move forward and progress.
What do you
want to do for your communities?
Our
communities feel proud of our work; our work is social, volunteer.
Our dream is that
our communities can have opportunities to study, and to not migrate towards the
city because expenses are greater; for example, that there would be a downtown
where there are technical degrees like computation, English, carpentry, sewing,
etc. This for the development of the community, another way to help is to
create a project where the youth of the communities can be involved to help
give up vices like alcohol, drugs, reduce violence and poverty.
We
have always been thankful to the students of the
