Passport with a copy and money for souvenirs
long pants/jeans
t-shirts and some long sleeve shirts to protect from sun and insects
work boots or sturdy close-toed shoes
shower scuffs or waterproof sandals
light jacket or sweater
bandanas for dust and to wipe sweat or dust masks
straw hat or cap for sun protection
underwear and socks
toiletries (toothpaste, deodorant, soap, etc.)
extra pair of glasses (if you are blind without yours)
leather gloves
towel, washcloth
toilet paper or Kleenex packs
sunscreen (#30 to 50)
flashlight with extra batteries
malaria medicines
towelettes or small bottle of sanitary cleaner for hands
granola bars or other snacks to supplement diet
pair of shorts or swimming suit for bathing in remote areas
small notebook and pen for journaling
water bottle with large lid for easy filling
